  1. I don’t know that I will ever be able to accept “with joy” the wrinkles, age spots and various aches and pains. Perhaps that’s too much to expect.

    But I do agree that we have to put more emphasis on appreciating where we are in life. For me, photos seem to help. I look back at photos and I remember being unhappy with a hairstyle or weight gain, but now, I don’t see that any more. Instead, I remember that particular photo was taken at my son’s birth or my daughter’s first day of school. I remember the joys instead of the sorrows. When I realized that was what I was doing, it helped me to be more aware of that and to work harder toward appreciating where I am in life and who I’m with.

    Still, as I sit in the podiatrist’s office because of an aching foot, I can’t help but mourn for my lost youth without the constant aches I have now.

    And yet, the alternative to aging isn’t really preferable, is it?

    RIP Robin.
