As a Texan I, too, have problems with some of the politics & social conditions here. But resorting comments reinforcing stereotypes about Texas is just ignorant—such as about our big hair. I don’t personally know anyone with big hair. Not one person. Texans are not all a bunch of ignorant rednecks. It is offensive to me that you would post this article on an internationally-accessed website perpetuating this kind of perception.
To the first commenter: in an article about the social injustices our state is struggling with, you chose to focus on the “big hair” comment?
Instead, why don’t we focus on voting out of office those politicians who have decimated our educational system, our healthcare coverage, our energy policies and our qualitya of life in general.
If we fix all that and someone thinks that Texas is a great place to live but it’s citizens have big hair … well, I’m willing to live with that.
