Getting Started With Online Supervision via Email
You've had a look at some of our materials on online supervision, and you're thinking about getting started. Now you want to know what does it cost? And how exactly does it work? What comes next?
How Does it Work, and What Does it Cost?
I offer online supervision services based on the same working model as I use for online therapy and online counselling services via email.
You can read the full details of how it works in the counselling service section, but briefly, you are free to write at whatever pace suits your own client case load. Normally, I respond to emails which are less than 1500 words within 2 business days. Lengthier emails may take somewhat longer; a rough rule of thumb is that longer emails up to 2500 words may take 3 business days, up to 3500 words may take 4 business days, and so on.
Two different payment plans allow you to pay either a flat amount for a 2-week period, or a smaller amount covering each block of 1000 words that we exchange. (These are roughly analogous to mobile phone calling plans, where a contract plan typically allows a larger volume of calling for a flat monthly rate, and a pay-as-you-go plan enables you to buy a certain number of calling minutes for a smaller fixed payment.) You can choose whichever approach best fits your needs, and you're free to change between them at any time.
In both cases, you have almost complete control over costs, and being an asynchronous service, you can flexibly increase or decrease our supervision contact as the demands of your own clinical practice require. Do you have lots of new clients, and you'd like to bring some of them to supervision right away? No problem: I'm just an email message away. Are you going through a dry spell, with a smaller load of just one or two clients? No problem: you can safely wait a few weeks for supervision without being charged for a service you don't need.
(I do ask that supervisees get in touch -- even if only briefly -- at least every few weeks or so, just to help maintain an ongoing relationship.)
The counselling service section provides more specific information about my online services, including costs, security, and some general hints, tips and caveats about email communication. That section also includes pages for WordBank top-ups and for converting to or cancelling the unlimited option.
What Comes Next?
If you haven't been discouraged by the separate reasons not to go for online supervision, and you've had a peek at the Online Supervision FAQ, the next step is easy: just head over to the Getting Started With Online Supervision page, complete the welcome questionnaire you'll find there, and choose an initial payment.
I look forward to hearing from you!
