Handbook of Individual Therapy
This book provides an excellent overview of the primary theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy as practised in the United Kingdom. Covering history, theory, primary client set and strengths and weaknesses for each of thirteen different approaches, the book makes an excellent starting point for exploring different schools of thought in more detail.

Originally published as part of our ‘Top Picks’ selection in 2003, but without a full review, I’ve retained the listing for this book here in the new reviews section specifically because I still believe it is a great introductory resource for counsellors and psychotherapists in practice.
