Hot on the heels of our expansion into mental health-related and health-related Facebook apps, the CR Health Net team is now leading the way in delivering practically up-to-the-minute medication information for consumers and health professionals, straight from the US Food and Drug Administration.

With the completion of a big project last Friday, several of our psychological self-tests and quizzes are now available as Facebook apps. But here’s our big gamble: can a privacy-respecting quiz app that doesn’t advertise itself by plastering your results all over the place actually be successful?

There’s definitely a connection — but it’s not what you might be thinking. You’ll have to try out the latest additions to our psychological quizzes to be sure.

It’s wrong to lump drug use and drug abuse together, say the authors of a forthcoming paper. On the contrary, most people who take psychoactive drugs will never be addicts, and for them, drug taking may be an adaptive and rational decision.

Two biologists propose that the presence or absence of parasites in our environment exerts a strong top-down influence on the extent to which we have historically developed family ties and even religion. Surely it’s not the whole picture — I sure hope we’re more complicated than that — but could it be part of the picture?
