Hi Diane,

I'm not sure what you mean.

On a blog I am addressing individuals and am confident that an individual can make a difference to the quality of their life.

Please get back to me and clarify if I haven't understood.

Thanks Marianna,

I do think that there are many factors that influence our quality of life - some within and some beyond our control.

I confess I'm pretty ignorant of Argentina. (In Australia, where I'm from, we're pretty focussed on the Anglo-Saxon world (the US and UK) - we're still waking up to the fact that Australia is part of Asia!)

I really like your positive attitude - whether the factors are within our control or not. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Evan,

I was reading, both part one and two, and thinking of the diverse factors involved in our quality of life.

For instance, the things that are under our control and those which are not... and still might be. I cannot do anything about the corrupted politicians of my country or its lousy economy (I live in Argentina,) but at least, I can choose to let that affect me as little as possible.

Whenever I face something that migh impact the quality of my life in a negative way, I look for the "bright" side of a given situation.

When our current government nationalized our retirement pension funds (I lost quite a small fortune,) I do my best to focus on the things that matter most to me, like having two awesome soon to becom college graduates children. Also, I learn from the negative experiences and find ways to "heal" or "fix" the problems caused by external factors.

Another example, for instance, happened just recently during a family gathering. Some relatives (my sister in law, and my mother, mainly) "took over" the gathering with some vulgar language and comments. My choice was to leave. I love my family, they have issues like everyody else, but the "bright side" here has to do with the fact that we, as human beings, can choose when to share time with others or not.

So, my son and his fiancee looked at me, and we all knew it was time for us to leave the funny family gathering, and go home watch some movie or just chat between us.

The quality of life is impacted by many different external and internal factors. When its within our control, we make our decisions and choose to do something healthier or something that adds value to our life. When it's not under our control (gov rules, etc.) we can always choose to learn and find ways to protect ourselves against those external factors that may adversely affect our lives.

Pereverance is a big one isn't it (?)

For me I guess it's to relax. I was very old when I was young (serious, deliberate and so on). I've got more relaxed but I still think I have a bit more to do.
