I see a psychologist for childhood abuse, alot of times in my session I just sit there, unable to talk. How does this help me, and how does my therapist know when to talk and when not to????? Should I continue my sessions, I do get help from them, but sometimes it is so painfull I don’t want to say anything, I curl up and stay silent.

    Hi Valerie,

If I could just ask you to drop by the Ask the Psychologist section, there’s a page there for submitting questions directly to Dr Carver — if you could submit it directly to him, then we can be sure he gets to see it!

My own personal view is that your sense of its being too painful to talk is itself worth listening to: the feelings you are experiencing right then and there are important, and your psychologist may be able to provide a safe environment in which you can explore and reflect on what you are experiencing right then.

    All the best,
    Greg

Hi, I was wondering if you know anything about why I get weak when people touch me, is it all just in my head?

I have somewhat of an embarrasing question to ask so I hope this is the place to do it. Ever since I could remember I would sneeze whenever I was turned on or thinking about having sex. I am now 39 years old and I have been married for 9 years. When I get in the mood my wife knows it before I put “the moves” on her. “Wierd huh?” I haved looked on the net to see if I could find a link between sneezing and sex but I have found no answers. I there a link between sneezing and sex? “I hope I am not allergic to it.”

Why do I feel a sharp increase in anxiety following a night or several nights of excessive sleeping?

My name is Salman; 21 year old I have been suffering from depression from last four years. My treatment of medication is continuing from last two years. I want to ask how can I restart my education, which is discontinuing since last two years. I have great problem especially with my concentration and memory. I have only passed my first ten classes. Please suggest comprehensive solution.
