G4 Star Auctions Signed Memorabilia for Mental Health Charity
On Monday 9 April, G4 star Ben Thapa will begin an online auction of sports, music and showbiz goodies to raise money for charity. Prizes include VIP tickets to meet the team at any Bolton Wanderers premiership match, tickets to meet G4 on their forthcoming tour, and a signed Manchester United football. Ben has organised the auction, which is being held on eBay to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
G4 star Ben Thapa is preparing to run his second Flora London Marathon for the Mental Health Foundation, which helps people survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems. Ben, who has raised £4,000 in sponsorship money for the charity so far, hopes the auction will help him to double that figure by the day of the marathon on Sunday 22 April. Ben says:
“Many people are unaware of how common mental illness is. At present one in four people experience a mental health problem such as stress or depression every year. So everyone knows someone who has been mentally unwell at some point.
“For as long as I can remember mental illness has been prevalent within my family and throughout, the Mental Health Foundation has been there to provide help and support. I am hoping that the online auction will give me the opportunity to raise as much money as possible so I can give something back to a charity that lies close to my heart.”
Items for the auction include:
- Four VIP tickets to any Bolton Wanderers premiership game as guest of the chairman, Phil Gartside. You will meet the team manager, Sam Allardyce and the entire Bolton team.
- Two meet and greet concert tickets for the G4 tour starting in May 2007 (any venue excl. Royal Albert Hall).
- A signed Sale Sharks RFC rugby shirt.
- Two meet and greet concert tickets for the G4 concert in Newcastle.
- Signed Manchester United football.
- 3ft figurine of Jonathan Ross, signed by Jonathan and G4.
- A signed ticket stub and programme from Wayne Rooney’s 2002 Everton debut.
- A singing lesson with opera star Nicky Spence.
- Collection of Neil Diamond memorabilia.
- Two tickets to watch a Paul O Grady show recording plus a signed picture.
- G4 signed pictures and CDs.
- Ben Thapa’s old running shoes.
Phil Gartside, Chairman of Bolton Wanderers FC says:
“I am delighted to be backing Ben in his quest to raise much needed funds for the Mental Health Foundation. It will be a gruelling 26 miles for Ben, but I have every faith that he will complete the London Marathon with flying colours.
“Mental illness costs the UK £100billion every year, which is an incredible sum of money. Research and development is a priority and funding is the only way we can help to try and prevent mental health problems in the future.”
