My 38 year old wife is on her third week and her once normal blood pressure is worse than mine and I’m on HBP medicine!
she was 136/93!!! we just measured!!! she is not overweight and chantix is the only medication she is on. We are discontinuing use of this product!
I’m attempting to quit by sheer will power. I hope she and others will do the same!
Good luck to all you future quitters!
Isn’t it funny the drugs the government decides to make illegal and the ones that are legal?
I say alcohol and tobacco are as harmful as any other drug but I guess they haven’t figured out a way to tax those yet!
We’ve been trying to quit tobacco for 7 years now unsuccessfully. Hopefully this time will be our last!
God Bless! -

Started Chantix July 29th. Quit smoking Aug 7th. Quit taking Chantix August 16th. I had 4 out of the 6 side affects and it wasn’t worth it. The pills didn’t do much for my withdrawal symptoms. They did help alot with the quitting process. What everyone is forgetting here is the nicotine withdrawal symptoms, and there are many of them, some of mine were headaches, restlessness, insomnia, runny nose, sore mouth. We have been nicotine junkies for years. Our bodies are in a healing process that includes a lot of nasty symptoms. It is going to take our bodies a little time to heal. I found a good website that helped me a lot on nicotine withdrawal and recovery symptoms. Maybe it will help other people too.

Deborah, I am on day 8 and feeling fine. Slight bit of nausea. I would recommend calling your doctor for sure and reporting your problems.. the swelling & headache is what concerns me the most.

I’ve been on Chantix about two weeks and I feel horrible. The side effects are bad-achey joints, asthma like symptoms, vomiting, face and eys are swelling and the headache gets worse each day.I feel like I’m being slowly poisned, could I be allergic to some of the ingredients? any comments would be appreciated.

Heather,
I am on my 8th day of Chantix, and my blood pressure is not a issue, and I have had a hard time controlling mine, and I am on medication x2 a day.
Tell her the benifits from Chantix, and quitting somking
will lower her blood pressure. -

Hey all, I am looking into Chantix and was wondering if anyone knew of any signs that this medication may raise blood pressure. My mother is very interested in quitting smoking, but has terribly high blood pressure which she controls with medication. Most OTC meds affect this and I can’t seem to find anything about it on the Chantix site.
Please let me know!!
Thanks so much. -

Question: Is there anything in this medication (Varenicline Tartrate) that would interfere or do damage to the liver? Please advise. Thank you…Sue
