71Karen,
Yes it has done wonders for his impulsivity. My sonhad to go back for his first medication check on Friday, December 8,2006. He was then switched from 10 mg to 15 mg and things continue to improve. So far this week, he has had two perfect days where none of his teachers had to speak to him. I love what I’m seeing!
Rita- I have the same problem with the 15 mg patch also. May be it’s something with the manufacturing, I didn’t have that problem the short time we used the 10 mg one.

Karen, My 13 year old son was taking 60MG of Adderall XR a day…40 in the AM and 20 in the PM. His Dr. just perscribed 15mg patch. He thinks that this lower dosage will do the same job. We just started today so we will see. Rita

La Shauna,
Thanks for letting me know you are having problems peeling the patch too. Well, I am not glad you are having problems, but I am glad to know I am not doing something wrong. :)Rita -

76For me, the Daytrana patch has been like a MIRACLE so far… (fingers crossed while knocking wood.) Focalin helped, but the effects were so dramatically up and down throughout the day that it was very difficult to deal with. I literally think this drug will save LIVES if it works for others the way it is currently working for me. It literally feels like my brain has been returned to me (my doctor prescribed it for minimal organic brain dysfunction caused by a head injury, so I remember what this felt like all those years ago…) I cried with happiness on my way home today, thinking of how it felt to be able to think clearly and concentrate on things again. (Maybe this is what they mean by “emotional lability!) On the negative side, I do have to say that I’m worried about the skin sensitization issue. So… here’s to highest hopes for the future!! :)

77my son has been on 10 mg for a month and a half , he is 7yrs old and 60 lbs. it too has been a miracle! there is some peace in my home! this has not changed him ( for he is truly great) only fine tuned him.
the sticky stuff will come off with baby oil after a warm bath/shower by kind of scratching it off! the marks are so irrelivant when it comes to a med with NO rebound! if your child isnt falling to sleep b/c of the patch you could try “melatonin” . less is best, try 1mg. this daytrana truly is a break through in treatment! -

78Our grandson is now using the 20mg patch, we also had problems getting the backing off without taking the medicine with it, I can say with certainty that temperature plays a big role in this. Don’t hold the patch between your fingers or lay it in the palm of your hand as your body heat will cause the medicine to adhere to the backing of the patch, that’s why they tell us to hold our hand against the patch for 30 seconds when we apply it, our body heat causes the medicine to adhere to the hip. Flex the patch back and forth and remove from the separation. It has been working just great for our grandson so far, the teacher says he is doing great.

79Removing the patch. When we first started the patch our grandson dreaded taking the patch off because it really hurt. We went to a local pharmacy and bought some pads that are used by people who have had back injuries and use large tape bandages that provide them support. The name of the pads are “REMOVE” they are made by a company called Smith & Nephew Inc., Largo, Fl. They work like a charm, no pulling no screaming. Wash the area with soap and water and dry. By bedtime the redness is gone. The pads remove all of the sticky residue from the patch. Works for us.
