My son has been on the patch for about a week and it seems we have traded one problem for another. Instead of him being aggressive he is now very hyper in the morning and evening. He used to be on Adderall, but he was so aggessive, so the doctor recommended the patch. It seems to take a good 2 hours for the patch to kick in, and during that time he is extremely hyper!! Once the meds are in his system he does great. However, in the evening for about 2 hours we get the same repeat as the morning. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did you also have your child on another medicine to help with the morning and pm effects? I am about ready to ditch the patch. Plus, my son really hates pulling the patch off. And yes, the patch is a pain to put on!

My 15yr old daughter was started on 10mg Daytrana patch, but I haven’t noticed a difference. She still is having major focusing & organizational problems at school and is flunking all of her classes. I was wondering how long does it take to find the right dosage. She is on no other medications for her ADD, since she has a slight case of it.

My 9 year old son has been diagnosed with ADD this week. He recommended Daytrana, but my concern is this, what should i expect on the 1st week of being on the patch. Will he be sleeping all the time, will he have mood swings, etc. Ive been reading into the side effects, and I am really scared on giving him this kind of medication. He is not hyper - i feel lost and worried. Any advise?

My 10 Year old son also started with 15mg recently. He was on concerta for the first two years he never could sleep and was never hungry we even tried adderal for awhile been then he started getting mood swings. We went back to concerta until recently we found out about the patch the doctor said it by passes the stomach. the first 10 day trial was great no problems with peeling it off he eats with no problem and goes right to sleep at night. The second box I got Ive had nothing but problems peeling it off the medication is sticking to the half you throw away I also thought I got a bad box but my third and fourth box are the same.

My 10 year old son was diganosed with ADHD 5 years ago. It seems we have tried every medication under the son and nothing helped. He has been using the patch for 5 weeks now and in the beginning I noticed a difference (not a big one, but big enough), now it seems not to be working at all. We apply 30mg per day, started with 15mg per day. Is anyone else experiencing this also??

My daughter(9) was diagnosed with ADHD 1 1/2 years ago and I(30) was diagnosed with ADD this year. We’re both on concerta - she takes 27mg and I take 54mg. It works well for me - I notice a BIG difference on days I take it compared to days I don’t. My daughter, however, has had issues. We battled anorexia with her last year - besides the fact that she wasn’t hungry because of the meds, she also said she didn’t want to eat because she’d get fat. She lost 3 pounds from February to October. Her doctor said it was more like she lost 8 because she should have gained weight. The anorexia isn’t really an issue anymore, but the fact that she’s not hungry makes me worried. And she also has a hard time falling asleep. Her concentration and behavior is wonderful while she’s taking her meds but I’m just wondering if there’s something better out there. After reading everyone’s comments, I’m starting to think this might be the answer for her. What are the side effects? Will her appetite increase? Will she be able to fall asleep easier? And what is removal like? She’s bad with pain, especially removing band-aids. She has no problem swallowing pills and I worry she wouldn’t like this if it hurts. Also - her doctor won’t send me her script in the mail so I have to go to the office every month. It’s a real pain. Is this considered a controlled substance? If so, then I’m guessing it will have to be a monthly script again or can you get refills?

    Angela,
My 11 yr. old son started on 10 mg. It was as if he wasn’t on any medication. It wasn’t until he started on the 20 mg. that I noticed a huge difference. I know what you mean having had 3 children with adhd myself. It is extremely tiring. Hopefully you have a good support system. Don’t forget to take time out for YOU.

My son is 7 ADHD. He started the 10 mg patch three days ago. He was on Adderall XR 15mg which lost its effect. He seems even more hyper since he has been on it. The school just called and said it was if he isn’t on anything at all. I guess I will just wait a few days to see if it works and better. It has gotten to the point the principal won’t call me anymore rather have school policeman call because he and I don’t agree on how his behavior should be handled. My poor son is just out of control, my older daughter has ADD and then the I have a two year old in the tremendous twos. I am so tired. All I can do is be consistent and hope that something will start clicking.

My son is 10 has been on Adderal for a few years. That drug just in the last 10 months has failed him. He was very angry, mouthy, could not focus along with many other negatives. He has had a terrible time at school and with his grades. He has been on this new patch one week, he has been staying in school all day no calls from school at all. He is having an easier time with peers and at home, seems to be able to focus more. I pray this works and continues . Public Aid will not pay a penny but insurance paid all but 34$ i can handle that. I along with many of you felt i was about out of options. I just want my son to be able to lead a good happy life.

Why is it taking 3 weeks for pharmacies to get the 10mg patch in stock?!
