My son has tried almost every med there is — he loses his appetite and can’t maintain his weight. He has been on the patch for a month now and is doing very well. Appetite is good. However, we are also having problems with it coming off when he swims or is in an activity were he sweats a lot. My insurance covered all but $30.00.

Stacie, my son has been on concerta forever and he is on the patch. we started on the lowest dose and had to change to the next dose but he is doing good with it. also my insurance covered it all except for my co pay just like they did the concerta. I hope it works well with your child too. Joyce

My son went today for his check up and the doctor gave us the info on Daytrana. He has been on Strattera since it came out and I am worried about putting him back on a stimulant. Is everyone having a good experience with the patch so far? Does anyone know it insurance has picked it up yet to start covering it? I have a card for 40 free patches but I cannot afford $160 a month. Any advise?

My son has been using the patch for almost a month and it has been wonderful, but he has a problem with it when he swims… it falls off. The doctor told me that shouldn’t be a problem and so I am confused. He runs cross country and will start soon and is worried about it staying on then… we live in Phoenix so sweating is prevalent during exercise. What can we do to assure it stays on? Is there another waterproof patch we can put over it. Should we do an alchohol rub before applying?
Thanks for your help.

my son began wearing the patch on Wednesday. He has only worn it for 5 to 6 hours each day for 3 days and it is working wonderfully. He still feels calm 3 to 4 hours after I take it off him. He also has not complained with a headache or stomach ache and he did when he was taking concerta. I am so thankful for the patch. also, 30 patches is 160.00 and my insurance price is 129.00 but I had to get it at a pharmacy in my insurance network. but that is ok as long as it works.
good luck to all

My daughter just got a prescription yesterday. She’s been on Focalin but can’t swallow pills and has a very obvious “coming down” effect in the late afternoon when it wears off. My pediatrician seems to think the Daytrana will last longer than the Focalin capsules, but it says only 9 hours. The Focalin capsules last roughly 9 hours (She can do homework after 9 hours, but she starts acting strangely). Have the people whose kids have taken it oberved that it lasts only 9 hours? Or longer?

We just got back from the doctor’s office too. He prescribed the patch for my son. I can’t seem to find it our town, but the pharmacist will be able to get it in a few days. The doctor gave us a card for 40 free patches. The drug rep happened to be there today so we lucked out.
Wonder how much it will cost through insurance or if insurance will cover it. That will be a job for tomorrow.

I just got back from the doctor with my son and he is starting the patch tomorrow. our local pharmacy did not have it in stock but they ordered it and I will have it tomorrow. Just to let everyone know that it is $160.00 for 30 patches.
hope this helps
