    Hi Joyce,

According to a press release on the Shire site:

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that Shire’s resubmission for DAYTRANA in response to information that the FDA requested in its December 23, 2005 approvable letter for DAYTRANA’s New Drug Application is being treated as a Class I resubmission. The review period for Class I resubmissions is 60 days, and since Shire’s resubmission was made on February 9, 2006, the anticipated FDA action date is April 9, 2006.

DAYTRANA (methylphenidate transdermal system (MTS)) is an investigational transdermal patch formulation for methylphenidate designed for once-daily use to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children aged 6 to 12 years. Shire is planning to launch DAYTRANA, if approved, during the first half of 2006.

    We’ll see…
    All the best,
    Greg

    Hi all,

It looks like the formal FDA approval has come through as of yesterday: I’ve posted a new article about it, filed under the ADHD and Drugs and Mental Health sections.

For those of you who have been waiting for so long for it to become available, I really hope it proves helpful!

    All the best,
    Greg

    Hi Joyce,

I know you’ve been waiting for this for some months now. Although you’d probably just like to be able to hear a specific date for availability, I’m afraid I’m none the wiser; I would urge you to check directly with your doctor to get the best advice on when the medication might be available.

    All the best,
    Greg

    Hi Jamie,

I’d urge you to check directly with your primary care physician — since the drug is at least now being manufactured, hopefully your physician will have the latest data on availability in your area (i.e., country, state, etc.).

    All the best,
    Greg

fyi if you go to daytrana.com there is a message that daytrana is now available. I asked my local pharmacy and they told me today that they are not going to keep it in stock because it is so expensive but if I get a prescription from my doctor it will take the pharmacy 3 days to get it in.

just wanted to pass on the information. I can’t wait for my son to try it.

The product website will have more information about the ADHD Patch DAYTRANA by next week. There will also be a free information kit, free support, and a video on how the ADHD patch works. Hope the info is helpful!
