Tools for Practitioners: BBEdit Software Updated
BBEdit complements the more usual site-building tools with powerful text transformation capabilities that far exceed any available within the leading packages from Macromedia and Adobe. Our review has been updated to reflect some important feature enhancements and bug fixes in the latest version of the software.
BBEdit is one of the most powerful text-editing packages available on any software platform, filling a specific niche that is under-served by visual HTML authoring software. Our original review of the software package, published earlier this year, highlighted one or two minor complaints about this otherwise very solid tool. With a couple of minor updates having been published by Bare Bones Software since that initial review, however, our list of complaints is dwindling!
Among other things, the latest version of the software opens the full capabilities of text factories to AppleScript, greatly enhancing the ability of the software to help automate repetitive processes and workflows.
