I would like to ask is multiple personality disorder a serious mental condition?

A:

Multiple Personality Disorder, known as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) in professional circles, is a serious mental disorder. While the disorder makes great movie topics, it’s clinically very rare. This disorder is sometimes alleged in criminal court when the criminal blames another personality for the crime.
