Reader’s Question

Q:

I have DID, PTSD and depression. My questions are thus:

How can I integrate my multiple personalities? How can I remain present when another alter is present? How can I teach myself to stop creating alters to handle painful trauma-related feelings?

Sorry I have so many questions. Whatever you can answer would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance for your input Doctor, sincerely.

Our Clinical Psychologist’s Reply

A:

These are very complex questions that are best answered after a therapist has extensive knowledge of the client. I would recommend consulting a mental health professional with expertise in DID and PTSD. I can’t discuss integrating personalities without knowing more about the situation. Sorry…this one’s too complex for a several-paragraph answer.
